Senator Dick

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

Illinois should be ashamed of their Senator. What a jerk? Senator Dick (appropriate name) Durbin equates GITMO with Nazi death camps, Soviet gulags, and the regime of Cambodia’s Pol Pot. Senator what is your goal with these statements?

It sickens me to think that a Senator would attack the country he is supposed to serve. This is sedition. If you need the definition follow this link to http://www.answers.com/topic/sedition and consider what Senator Durbin has done. He has castigated our military, which did not choose to go to Iraq, but are following the orders of the Commander-In-Chief. That’s what you do in the military. Follow the lawful orders given by your superiors. I know this, as I was in the US Army for 8 and half years.

Our military should never be equated with Nazi goose steppers, KGB criminals, and Khmer Rouge scum. Never! All this does is help our enemies. It creates doubts in the ranks of our military. Remember Viet Nam? This type of speech encourages our enemies and strengthens their will to fight.

Durbin needs to fill a cell in GITMO. Then he can be with the men he supports. The good old boys of Al Queda and the Taliban. Senator Dick is a traitor and he deserves no worse. The comparison of GITMO to Auschwitz? Come on. None of the prisoners have died. There are no ovens cooking the dead, no there’s A/C. We don’t feed them MREs like our men in the field. Hell no these scum are fed so much better. They have three hots and cot. The only thing close to torture is having to listen to rap music.

Senator Durbin needs to go and talk with Senator John McCain. Ask Senator McCain about the Hotel Hilton. Let him tell you of his experience. Listen to what real torture and fear is. Ask him if they gave him a Bible?

I know that the US is a weak sister of nation. Senator Durbin will receive accolades and encouragement for what he has done from his own party, the Democrats. His constituents will reelect the traitorous bastard. The Republicans will just stand in the corner and pout.

In a sane nation Senator Dick would awaken behind bars today. Oh for that nation to exist once more.

Veto the Budget

Tuesday, June 14th, 2005

The Texas Congress wants to increase spending 20%. I think we need a new Congress. The Governor needs to veto the budget and call a special session. If not we need a new Governor.

The Texas House of Representatives refused to give Texas property owners a break. The break would have been a lower cap on how much property taxes could be raised each year. It was a level of 5%. The bill got killed without going for a vote. Then a couple of weeks later the representatives gave pharmaceutical companies a break on thier property taxes.

Excuse me. Governor this one needs your veto as well. Its time to act like a Republican and quit spending and giving tax breaks to corporations that do not need it.

For years the Republican voter longed for a day that a Republican majority would occupy the Senate, the House of Representatives, as well as the Governor’s and Lieutenant Governor’s office. Well the time has arrived and it has nothing but disappointed me.

Why are politicians gratified by taking my money and spending it on something that makes them feel good? They should focus on getting rid of that tripe. Charity is not the purview of the state. As an individual I find it difficult to give as much as I would like, since the state has picked my pocket. I do not trust the state to do as well with my money as I could. It is arrogant for the state to believe that they can make a better choice of charity than I can.

Example. Look at the money the state got for medicaid. They allowed it to be used for the purchase of Viagra. It got big publicity because some of the purchasers were sex offenders. But why should anyone buy Viagra with my dime? I am not about to contribute to anyone’s woodie fund. But the state did.

It really irks me. If I went to a bank robbed it and got caught I would go to jail. I needed the money. I was going to take care of my family. But I’m wrong. I deserve the jail time.

Now the state comes and takes money from you. Sales tax because you wanted to make a legal purchase. Property tax because you legally own a home. Fees for a number of different services here and there. I feel like I’m being robbed. But not only am I having my pocket picked, the money is being squandered. The state is wrong. They do not deserve to be in office.

Okay Governor Perry it’s time to tighten the belt. Pick up your veto pen. It’s going to determine how I fill out my ballot.

A Simple Mission Statement

Monday, June 13th, 2005

Everyone should have mission statement. Something to help you focus on life goals. Here is mine. Note this changes as I change. But not a whole heck of a lot.

The Lord is first in my life. I focus on studying doctrine so that I may reach the high ground. Let me give thanks to God for the results of all my actions, good and bad.

My family should live in comfort and without fear. I provide them with love, kindness, and knowledge. I recognize the small issues and let them pass by.

My wife should be treated with integrity and respect. She should never be given a reason to doubt me or my actions.

Financial security does not come from a pay check. Financial education is a continuous process. I must learn in order to recognize opportunities and then act upon it. This is what some people call luck.

My partners are sources of expertise. I must repay their knowledge with my knowledge. We must always seek a means to increase market awareness and market share. Our company will be a force to reckon with.

My stories have morals with implications. Decisions must be described along with the affects of those decisions. Innocent evil must be punished as much as blatant evil. An unjust means shall find a just end.

Weekend with the boy

Monday, June 13th, 2005

Great Weekend. Spent a lot of time with the boy, since his sister is still in New Mexico. He has been going to Kids Kollege during the week and his buddy took him swimming and to a Church thing. I wanted to get some time in with him.

Friday I cleared up some projects. More preparation for clients. I want to cover as many bases as possible. Cannot afford to wing it when they start calling me.

With this out of the way it opened up Saturday for my son and his buddy to play some Savaged Super Heroes. I Savaged an old Villains and Vigilantes module, Crisis at Crusader Citadel. Boys made two super heroes each and I converted four bad guys. The boys defeated three of the four bad guys, while only having one of their heroes put in the hospital. The fourth bad guy was able to cover for the mooks that snatched the stuff that they were stealing. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to finish this adventure. The lads are eager.

I felt really good Sunday. Got enough sleep and I cannot remember when I had felt so good. Knocked out a few a few things I needed to do and took the boy swimming. He had as his buddy was there. Swimming wore me out to the point of achieving a depressed mood. Part of the depression cam from trying to get this PlanPlus software trial to work. Finally got it up and then I had to go to bed.

Jobs suck. Be glad when I start my own gig. Today I feel tired and old. Swimming really wore me down. The joys of being a fat slop. I got to get off the North Beach and soon. Where’s the South Beach book at?

12 to Midnight had another operations meeting. We decided to rearrange a couple of things here and there. Most important we decided get Fear Effects on the market ASAP. We will later bundle it with an adventure. Folks that want both will have about a month to use a coupon to get the adventure less the price of the Fear Effects system.

Fear Effects are really cool. Ed created them and they should enhance anyone’s horror game. I included their use in Skinwalker and intend to use them in all future 12 to Midnight adventures that I write.

We are going to finally get some art. Obsidian, an artist we use out of Colombia, is going to have two works done by Sunday. Last night we discussed art and we are going to have to give a couple of other commissions to other artists. Obsidian is more in demand, so we need to adjust so our books get out sooner.

Since Skinwalker is going to be published in July rather than June, I suggested we get some ads made. One of the commissioned art works that will be done Sunday is a picture of a young girl banging on the cracked windshield of a truck. She looks rather frantic in her effort to get someone’s attention. Using this image we will make a banner with a pair of quotes that rotate. The first quote is “Who’s your daddy?” The second quote is “Skinwalker”. I think it is cool and while I hate that phrase, I think the context makes it pretty spooky. A lot of players will find they are just as frightened. Cannot wait to get this out the door. Mwuhahaha!

The Governor

Wednesday, June 8th, 2005

In Austin they all love the governor.
Boo! Boo! Boo!
Now he said he did all he could do.
Now property taxes do not bother him.
Does his lack of backbone bother you?
Tell the truth.

(Some words done to the tune of Sweet Home Alabama. )

I have never felt that comfortable with this Governor. I voted for him. Can’t deny it. After the last legislative session I feel justified in saying, I won’t vote for him again. Hope Kay Bailey Hutchinson runs for Governor. Of course the way the Republican Party is now they will probably run Carole Keeton Strayhorn, the Texas Comptroller, against Rick Perry. Strayhorn scares me quite frankly. She comes off as a vindictive mean person. She might be meaner than Hilary Clinton and that’s saying quite a bit. I may not vote at all if there is no choice at all.

Perry has one chance to rally me for my vote. He needs to call a special session now. To hell with waiting on a consensus. Drag the legislators back to Austin. Take those 36 Republican jerks that would not vote for property tax reform and explain to them their political life is finished unless they start standing for Texas property owners. The Republican Party should cut them off from all party funds if they don’t get in line.

If the Republican Party does not get these congressmen in line then what does the party stand for? Who do they care about? Who wants to support a spineless party that has a platform that is ignored. Maybe the platform is just window dressing to fool Texas voters. I for one have been a fool too long.

Your move Perry. Do you want to keep your job?

Blood is on the Boil

Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

I am getting fed up with two-faced Republican politicians. Especially, the Texas variety. They might as well tell the Texas voter go to hell. They avoid all the issues important to us, like property tax, schools, and Robin Hood. They had the chance to fix all of this, but no. And why can’t they cut some spending. They’re about to learn that the lobbyists may take you to lunch, but it’s the voter that drives you to Austin. The folks that pay attention to this stuff are incensed and they are telling their friends.

Similar stuff is going on in DC. When are the Republicans grow some balls and tell the Dems to stuff it. I want a new party, one that truly is conservative. A party that loves America and will tell the world to kiss my ever loving ass.

I am sick and tired of us bending over backwards for foreigners. When you come to America speak English. I’ll bring a pocket dictionary and phrase book when I visit your country. And it kills me when I hear Americans say, well they do things like this in Europe. I don’t care what they do in Europe. If Europe was so damn great, why did your ancestors leave.

My ancestors did not seek to start a New Scotland when they came to these shores. They came here looking for an opportunity they could not find in the old country. No one has spoke any Celtic or Gaelic since they got off the boat in the Carolinas. Hell they got to Texas as soon as they could and fought for this great state when war required them to and toiled in the soil when it did not. I admire the efforts they took to work hard and build a foundation for their children. I am not about to disgrace them, with the thought that we aren’t like Europe.

Do you think a socialist revolution would have worked in 1776? I don’t think it would have attracted the people of the world and allowed for the growth that the capitalist revolution achieved. Texas and a great deal of the west probably would have remained with Mexico. Could we have afforded the Louisiana Purchase in a socialist society? Socialism would reject manifest destiny and where would we all be today?

Another Weekend About Town

Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

Had a busy weekend. The chauffeur as always. And preparing for my business filled in the gaps.

My wife had to run off to Detroit but she returned late Friday. This meant taking my daughter to piano class. After that ran ‘em to Tae Kwan Do, which is also how Saturday started. I had to get a state inspection, but the place had a two hour wait. Girl working the counter is a knock out. Darn I’ll have to go back.

That afternoon my son had a patrol meeting. They met at the patrol advisor’s house. They made there patrol flag which depicts a ram head. They used beads to spell out there names. Looked pretty darn. The boys did a great and then they got to swim. I missed all of the excitement, as my daughter needed to pick up a couple of things for her camp.

I focused on business cards and forms for my business. Doing a bunch of stuff in Adobe Pagemaker. I need to find the disc and reinstall the capability to make pdfs. What did I do with it? Office is a mess. I need to clean up and reorganize before I look for customers. Still have not received my information from the State Board regarding my firm’s registration.

That night my wife was in the tub and her sister called from Hong Kong. We talked about when we would go there and I said they should come here. Basically we both needed to travel. Then I asked her about her daughter and she put her on the phone and talked to her for 15 minutes. My niece (like all my niece’s) beautiful girl and smart, humble too. She is attending Hong Kong University, which is hard to be accepted. Next month she will work as intern. She is majoring in accounting and joked to her, that if my firm is successful I will start a branch in Hong Kong and put her in charge. Told her she need to come and play with me and the kids. She liked playing D&D when we visited Canada a few years back and took a bus tour to New York and DC.

Sunday morning found me and the boy at the scout house. The Scoutmaster wanted all of the chuck boxes painted for summer camp. The adjustment to boy scouts is still hard for me. We are supposed to let the boy’s do the work while we advise. The scout leader pose is legs apart with hands in pockets, while whistling. They were making pretty good progress when we had to go.

Got home and ate lunch and then I had to take my daughter to Misty Meadows Girl Scout Camp, north of Conroe, TX. She was ready to go. We drove up and she and I had a nice chat about this and that. We arrived and got her checked. They inspected her gear, so as to prevent any surprises. She’s going hiking in New Mexico and she will get as high as 16,000 feet. I wish I could go. She’s going to have a blast. She knew a couple of girls from previous camps. The leader who inspected her gear introduced her to another girl and I saw them chatting when I left. Good another friend. On the drive up I told her she should try to keep in touch with anyone she wants to. Get IMs, Email addresses, etc… Just want her to get used to keeping in touch with people. A networking skill that should help her throughout her life. Something I wish I did better.

Got home and the rest of the family had gone swimming. I worked on the biz. Checked out this consulting book from the library. Had some good stuff in it. Most important thing was information on how to determine optimal rate. Mine was just where I thought it would be. The rate probably has helped me more than anything, as I was about to undercharge on some services. Glad I nipped that in the bud. With good rate information I was able to study my work load and have determined how many clients I need to make money and fill my time and avoid going into overtime.

Monday I got my physical done for Boy Scouts. I’m ready for camp. Also went back to get my car inspected. Some cute girl at the counter, but there machine is down. Great I have to find another shop. I do and still have to wait an hour. I flunk the inspection, of course. I have a light bulb that’s not working and a cracked lens over my blinker. The damn blinker cover and bulb cost me $80. I hate frickin’ dealers. None of the part houses have this piece and I don’t want a ticket for not have the sticker.

Artists. The Road to Waterloo.

Friday, June 3rd, 2005

Last night was our monthly operations meeting. I enjoy ‘em. We had all the owners, Craig, Ed, Preston and myself, plus Trey who we have given a stock option. The purpose of these phone meetings is to coordinate the work and make sure we understand priorities. This has been a good forum for us and it keeps us on task.

I need to stifle myself at these events. In retrospect I joke a bit too much during the meetings. It must be some sort of defense mechanism. Why I need a defense mechanism is a puzzle to me? We’re on the phone. We all get along great. No one has got close to tearing into anyone in almost a year. I’ll reflect inwardly on this a bit.

Our major problem during this meeting is a recurring one. Artists. What I would give to be able to draw. My daughter is a good artist, but she has not developed enough to provide adequate art for our pubs. No nepotism in this company. Just good old boys. Unfortunately, good old boys don’t seem to draw. I cannot draw or paint to save my life. My handwriting is abhorrent and illegible.

Fort Bend county has a writer’s group of which I am the Treasurer. The guild had their annual workshop last April and I mentioned my need for artists during lunch. One of the ladies remembered this. She left a message for me while I was in Dallas regarding two brothers that are artists. I need to check up on these guys and see their portfolio. From the way the lady described them to me, I am certain they are both in High School. My fear is these fellows will draw anime or comic book style. We don’t want that look in our modules. We want real and we want scary. I need to look them over nevertheless. Desperate is putting things lightly.

Oceanic Airlines

Wednesday, June 1st, 2005

I’m a Lost fan. Totally hopeless. I love Sun. She is just totally fine. I lived in Korea for several months and almost married a Korean woman.

Well I had never visited any fan sites for the show before today and I was learning a lot of things I never knew. Things like the soccer players jerseys all had Hurley’s numbers. And that the gate was a number and the Ocenic Flight had two of Hurley’s numbers.

The coolest thing I learned is that there is a website for Oceanic Airlines. Writers are so whacked. I’m loving it. If you want to check it out go to http://www.oceanic-air.com/ and book your flight. I don’t know about you, but I ain’t flying to Sydney or LA.
