Happy Holidays?

This is a rant, so don’t come here looking for any Christmas cheer. You won’t find any here I assure you.

I am so sick of the politically correct don’t upset anyone bullshit. And that is what the Christmas season is becoming. Start looking at newspapers and ad sheets for the word Christmas. You cannot find it anywhere. Everything is holiday where as boy it would have (and still should have) been Christmas. Holiday lights, holiday trees, even holiday angels. Who are these people kidding?

I am more than prepared to boycott any manufacturer that does not want to recognize Christmas. The same is true for stores that want to drape “holiday” décor about the mall, but forgets the reason for the season. It just rubs me the wrong way. Hanukah, Ramadan, and Kwanza have never bothered me. So why does Christmas bother everyone else?

America quit kowtowing to the minority that does not like anything that has a western tradition. Stand up and be the brave people you once were. Quit being cowards and letting these whiners ruin your culture and one of the most important Christian holidays of the year. The majority needs to be a majority. Stand up for your beliefs.

Jesus was born so that we would worship him and respect the sacrifice he made for all of humanity. But like the people of Jerusalem that he came to save, we are rejecting him. The price of forgetting the messiah resulted in the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 AD (I don’t use CE either). Do we wish to forget God and face a similar punishment down the road? I say no. I hope that you will also.

i tell ya fella, juz too dang complicated nowadays, it a holiday, not juz mere a religious one, its time for pplz to get together and relax for the year end. Keep things simple. cheers!

  2. Simple American Says:

Its not complicated. In the States they are trying to sterilize Christianity out of our culture. I cannot imagine a holiday merely for the winter solstice. It’s not simple. For me Christmas is the second most important Christian holiday.

If this continues America will go from being a capitalist nation to communism. Ironic yet tragic. Faith and religion is one element of society that Marx called for removing in the socialist revolution. I don’t want to be a socialist, but there is a movement to turn the US into a socialistic state.

is christian really a majority in ‘america’

i’m not so sure, but look at me with quotes around ‘america’

I don’t even like that word, because when people say it they don’t really mean america, they mean the u.s.

    I think I’m a pc party pooper

  4. Simple American Says:

    According to this link
and this link 75% of all Americans are Christian. 13% to almost 15% of all Americans are nonsecular, which is the next highest category. So if you believe this data then Christians are a majority.

The only reason we get these days off as holidays has been for Christmas, so call it Christmas. It in not the holiday formerly known as Christmas.

Now for the term American. I have never heard a Canadian, a Mexican or anyone that lives south of Mexico referred to as an American. Having lived internationally for seven years, I do not remember being called a United Stater, or United Stationer. I’ve been called a yankee a few times (which as a Southernor I did not care for) and a few other unkind words in my travels. But when refered to respectfully I have always been called an American.

I am just a simple American that wants to listen Christmas carols, not holiday tunes. I want to go see the Christmas lighting at uptown and not the holiday lighting. Santa Claus should be sitting next to the Christmas tree not the holiday tree. Christmas is Christmas. Every other choice is 1984.

  5. Kunstemaecker Says:

To hell with Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving (allthough we don’t celebrate that), New Year.

    Damn them all!

    I sound like Scrooge don’t I?

  6. Simple American Says:

And the ghosts will be visiting you soon. Anon.

  7. crazycat Says:

for some, its another holiday to get presents…

  8. Simple American Says:

Thats true. But in the USA they are Christmas presents, not holiday presents.

I don’t know Singapore traditions and I dare not speak for or against them as it is not my place to do so.

  9. mistipurple Says:

everything becoming more commercialised here too lah.

  10. Simple American Says:

I can imagine misti. Everybody wants to make money. But here it feels like they sterilize it as well.

  11. Etchen Says:

You’re absolutely correct–it does feel very sterilized nowadays. Though I did get into an agument with my bank the other day b/c they had only Christmas decorations up and nothing for Hanukah and I suddenly felt that my bank had become denominational.(FYI-I’m Lutheran) I personally would like to see more nativity scenes and more menorrahs up.

  12. Simple American Says:

I don’t see many of those down here Etchen. It would certainly be respectful of the Jews. But there’s not a whole lot of respect being proferred to them either. Quite sad honestly.
