It really glued me to the news more than normal. The rest of the week I was reading news and trying to figure out what I still cannot answer. Why?

Thanks for a very graphic recollection of your side of what happened 5 years ago. On this side, I was home when son called me on the phone, "Hey Dee, have you heard? One of the the towers in NYork has collapsed. It's on tv now." That glued me to the tv for the rest of the day.

SA - you are SO right. It makes my blood boil when the media "busts" the government and exposes how it's working to deter terrorism efforts against the US. Whatever happened to prosecution for treason?

What a perspective to have Neal5X5. The American way of life certainly got a few teeth knocked out of it. But it takes folks like us to keep up our chin up and our politicians honest to prevent the total loss. With an honest effort and hard work we keep America on the right track.

911 is a very dark memory for me. I worked at a unit of Charles Schwab that shot data to clients and customers and we had 2 TVs running at all times. I arrived at work just as the second plane hit. The rest of the day I watched the horror, the agony, and the heroism.

We sent out as much information to people as we could, keeping people appraised of the situation, and getting first-hand reports from those at or near Ground Zero. Each one was like listening to a horror show but knowing it wasn't special effects - just death on a grand scale.

Of all the messages and news we sent out that day, I remember only one with clarity. It was a personal IM sent by a friend who asked what I thought was happening. I could only reply what was going through my head at the time:

"The death of the American way of life."

On reflection, it's a bit melodramatic, but accurate.

Chen has the Blue Ribbon comment. I am going to post my thoughts on World peace shortly.

I can never forget May. Haiz... On a happier thought there is a Red Ribbon for you.

The terminator governor is inelgible to run for President, Ah Nel. And I would not want to vote for him. I want Teddy Roosevelt to come back to life and lead the USA. White Ribbon for you.

Man is powerless JoeC. We need a greater power that can sustain us and provide peace.

Yep Suituapui. It was a very surreal image. It must not be forgot. History forgotten is history repeated.

We must be thankful Alisa. The military, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement has done a wonderful job to this day. I dislike how the media exposes many of the methods used to deter further attacks against us. Someone needs to call a traitor a traitor and prosecute them as such. The government making statements like Guilliani (sp? me too) and he is not the only one is dangerous. Comments like that can embolden the enemy to continue. Dissension in the government and citizenry serves the same end. We need unity to secure victory and peace.

Yes Jane. It was so shocking.

Agendas kill the golden goose or mountain misti.

When religion is used as a basis for war it serves to strain the acceptance of said religion. But I am beginning to hear more muslim outrage against these jihadist frauds recently. I find that encouraging.

Thanks LB. That means a lot to me. :)

It is very detestable Angeleyes. And this is probably a legitimate use of hate. Just be careful not to harden your heart.

It's sad that it has to be that way Shoshana. Guns keep the crime rate down. And when governments take guns from the citizens, atocities are not far to follow. The Nazis in Germany took the guns and then they took the Jews. The Russian Communists took away guns and then purged those that did not conform. Australia has taken guns from its citizenry. The crime rate has arisen in that country ever since. The criminals did not follow the dictates of government and they kept their weapons.

Actually JoeC, your statement reminds me of a picture of my great-grandfather. It is the only picture I have ever seen of him. He wore a flannel shirt and coveralls. A straw hat covered his head and he has a long dark beard. Kind of reminds me of ZZ Top a bit. hehe. He leads a pony by the reins for my Aunt who straddles the pony's back. He was a salt of the earth Texas farmer living in Grimes County and I wish I could have met him. Well, I will meet him in the next life. :)
