Presents, Cookies, and More Alaska. Okay Mostly Food!

Check this out. From the Great White North I have been blessed with some goodies and a post card of downtown Calgary. Cool, huh? Thanks Fantasyflier. I was totally not expecting this. Now I can get a taste of those chili crabs I’ve heard so much about. :)

I used our baby grand piano for the back drop on the photo. And look friends. You can see my ceiling fan too. hehe. Oops!

The missus cooked some cookies. Yum. It’s those Toll House brand cookies. They melt in your mouth, or your hands if you’re too slow.

And look what those cookies attracted. Not one. But two. Thats right I caught a pair of crumbsnatchers. And they were snatching those cookies like the big fat man in the house might eat some if they did not act quick.

Those of you who have been following this blog can recall that the Sapphire Princess is cruising through Glaicar Bay. And you may recall the great fun I recounted as we listened to ice break and felt chill winds freeze our noses. Well this adventure from the deck of a ship gets a soul hungry.

So when one gets hungry on the Sapphire Princess and the clock is nearing the hour or three and thirty there is only one recourse. Make your way to the Emerald Room for High English tea. And so we did.

Branda-and-Jerry-English-Te.jpg

Me and the missus were certainly up for some finger food.
Cici-tea.jpg

My niece enjoyed the hot tea. It drove away the chills of Glaciar Bay and thawed out a smile.
Steph-Speak-to-the-Hand.jpg

My other niece was feeling less than photogenic. Cannot blame the dear girl, as ice hung down from her ears and nose. She said something about talk to the hand.

But here are the photographs that everyone really wants to see. Food!!!

Croissant.jpg

The lovely little croissant with a chicken salad and walnut concoction. Blissful.

Finger-Sandwiche.jpg

When you’re in Alaska you can never eat enough salmon. And they helped us get our daily ration at tea.

Tuna-Salad.jpg

And then there was tuna salad for variety.

Scones.jpg

And when they served these. Well honestly. I could not help but think of May and her scones. Though I’m sure these did not taste as good as the one she bakes. The cream and ham were devine too.

Perspective.jpg

Now here is question. Why do you need a fork at tea? A spoon. A knife. Sure. But a fork? Oh well.

Cookie.jpg

What are those things called. They are to die for. They just melt in your mouth and it’s a pleasant explosion guaranteed to make you get as close to Nirvana on Earth as possible.
Full-Plate.jpg

And with a plate of these you cannot go wrong. So filling. Hmmm… And dinners at 8 huh?

  49. domesticgoddess Says:

that melt-in-your-mouth thing, is it a meringue?

  50. simple american Says:

Sometimes this blog is dreadfully slow to refresh. Real pain I tell ya Ah Nel.

You know Domesticgoddess a meringue might be a good way to describe. Though it is much harder than what is typically found on, say lemon meringue pie. It melts kind of the same in your mouth.

  51. christine Says:

    Dried Mango!!! I’m getting hungry!!

  52. simple american Says:

Then let’s eat Christine. Time to dig in. :)
