Presents, Cookies, and More Alaska. Okay Mostly Food!

Check this out. From the Great White North I have been blessed with some goodies and a post card of downtown Calgary. Cool, huh? Thanks Fantasyflier. I was totally not expecting this. Now I can get a taste of those chili crabs I’ve heard so much about.
I used our baby grand piano for the back drop on the photo. And look friends. You can see my ceiling fan too. hehe. Oops!

The missus cooked some cookies. Yum. It’s those Toll House brand cookies. They melt in your mouth, or your hands if you’re too slow.

And look what those cookies attracted. Not one. But two. Thats right I caught a pair of crumbsnatchers. And they were snatching those cookies like the big fat man in the house might eat some if they did not act quick.

Those of you who have been following this blog can recall that the Sapphire Princess is cruising through Glaicar Bay. And you may recall the great fun I recounted as we listened to ice break and felt chill winds freeze our noses. Well this adventure from the deck of a ship gets a soul hungry.
So when one gets hungry on the Sapphire Princess and the clock is nearing the hour or three and thirty there is only one recourse. Make your way to the Emerald Room for High English tea. And so we did.

Me and the missus were certainly up for some finger food.

My niece enjoyed the hot tea. It drove away the chills of Glaciar Bay and thawed out a smile.

My other niece was feeling less than photogenic. Cannot blame the dear girl, as ice hung down from her ears and nose. She said something about talk to the hand.
But here are the photographs that everyone really wants to see. Food!!!

The lovely little croissant with a chicken salad and walnut concoction. Blissful.

When you’re in Alaska you can never eat enough salmon. And they helped us get our daily ration at tea.

And then there was tuna salad for variety.

And when they served these. Well honestly. I could not help but think of May and her scones. Though I’m sure these did not taste as good as the one she bakes. The cream and ham were devine too.

Now here is question. Why do you need a fork at tea? A spoon. A knife. Sure. But a fork? Oh well.

What are those things called. They are to die for. They just melt in your mouth and it’s a pleasant explosion guaranteed to make you get as close to Nirvana on Earth as possible.

And with a plate of these you cannot go wrong. So filling. Hmmm… And dinners at 8 huh?

Blue Ribbon for you.
I don’t know May. Gonna have to do a taste and see. But the salmon was simply divine. Enough to make me consider more Alaska trips.
You grabbed the red ribbon.
Did I drool on the piano FF? hehe Still guarding my mangos for the right occasion. Maybe rent a movie next weekend and I got my treat.
White ribbon for you sir.
You missed the ribbon but you still get a hug Jane.
How’s about a number 5 hug PC. Hope that croissant filled ya till lunch.
Orgasmic indeed L B. Still waiting for you to get baking again.
You have to go cruising V. It would be so fun. You and your friends would have a great time. Check it out.

No you don’t K-man. Be you and you’ll be happier.
I promise Wuching. More pictures soon.
Sorry Cocka. This was the Princess cruise line. You need to check out the Korean cruise companies for that delicacy.
I miss you too kiddo. Hope those noodles fill you up so you can learn a ton.
Then you can go earn the big bucks and pick a cruise.
It was so good PY. I want to do again. And again.

My MIL also said that she took a lot of salmon during the cruise and when she was back the sight of salmon made her dizzy…. so when we told her we are going for Japanese buffet she was like… “Don’t tell me about salmon”

All of that was part of the cruise ZM. So nice. You just have to get a table. We waited early so we had no trubs. Were too late the day before so we learned.
Those poor cookies did not stand a chance. Scared they would bite my hand too. haha

I was so thrilled to see the Singapore-made Prima ready-made mixes. I mean, hey, everybody, the Hainanese Chicken Rice mix is to DIE FOR!!! The other mix not in the pic is LAKSA. I have served loads of peoople at home just using that mix.
And yes, the scones remind me of May, KW and ZMM.
September 18th, 2006 at 11:33 pm

The melt-in-your-mouth thing, is it a marshmallow?
And I so darn miss the croissants in NZ!!!
You can hardly find any good warm ones here in M’sia. Sigh.
September 19th, 2006 at 9:15 am

I was pretty thrilled to Mama S.
(Glad to see you kept your moniker too)
It was very nice of him Mama Bok. Dun be jealez please. And welcome to my blog too.
Oh gosh. I got to get her baking again Titoki. That melt in the mouth thing is actually hard and crunchy. Not a marshmallow like treat. But so yummy. Wah! No good croissants in Malaysia. Open your eyes girl. There is treasure chest. Open a bakery with Titoki’s fantastic croissants.

September 20th, 2006 at 5:09 am
that melt-in-your-mouth thing, is it a meringue?
September 20th, 2006 at 9:11 am
Sometimes this blog is dreadfully slow to refresh. Real pain I tell ya Ah Nel.
You know Domesticgoddess a meringue might be a good way to describe. Though it is much harder than what is typically found on, say lemon meringue pie. It melts kind of the same in your mouth.
September 20th, 2006 at 6:55 pm
Dried Mango!!! I’m getting hungry!!
September 20th, 2006 at 7:00 pm
