Thanksgiving Feast 06
My daughter worked hard on the feast. Though she started a bit late. We had planned on a 6:30 dinner and it did not happen until 8:00. Made some phone calls to relatives to let them know of the delay so they would not rush. She managed to pull off one heck of a meal. The only thing she ruined was the corn bread, so there was no stuffing. Oh well. Christmas then.

Little MissChef making scones.

Fresh from the oven.
And the feast looked like this:

The pigs brought their own blanket. Cranberry sauce as I demand it. And sweet potato casserole with apples and cinnamon.

Greenbean casserole does not look near as good as it tasted. My neice from #3 BIL loved it. This dish had no leftovers. This is the third year my girl has made zuccini squares and I vote for a fourth. Scones have been raided already. Have to be a quick photographer as these were gone quickly. And they were the best she ever made. She used more cream than the recipe calls for. Perhaps that is the trick.

We served shrimp coctail. The chef made a salmon pasta bake for the first time. It’s invited next year. #3 brought a lovely ham. Yum!

And then the star of the show. Front and back. What did she put in the bird’s butt? And the chef gets to sit next to the carver while he does what he does. And that drumstick is for Titoki.

And we had a nice Australian wine. And look at that little drunk. All passed out in his chair. I’ll fix him with my Vulcan head crush.

And we pigged out as you can see. I cannot believe I ate all of that. No room for pie. Tomorrow. And the missus looks good no matter how much she pigged out.
Hope everyone that celebrated Thanksgiving had a great day.

Scratch Ah Boy behind the ears and give him the other drum stick.
I’m thinking that she did so good Angeleyes. In past years she would get in the missus way and they would squack a bit. This year the missus hardly lifted a finger.

Yes your highness. They sell them like that at Sams. The warehouse store for Wal-Mart. You just open the package and eat when you get home.
November 27th, 2006 at 9:36 am
Those are fabulous looking feast!
We ended up with a Picnic Thanksgiving Dinner. The kids love it…there were 9, the adults love it, because the kids were happy. When most of them 5 kids are 2 and under, picnic at the playground’s the best. Might do it again next year.
November 27th, 2006 at 10:50 am
I bet the kids did love it Shoshana. NMce that you eliminate some of the clean up. My son (who cooked nothing) griped like we did not feed him or something because he had to wash dishes. hehehe
November 27th, 2006 at 12:12 pm

It was really good Abaniko.
It was fun Cara. I really enjoy the company of my nieces. Such smart girls.
You should Kimananda. Y’all have some celebrations coming up soon right?
November 27th, 2006 at 7:15 pm
I forget that you southerners do things a bit differently on Thanksgiving. The 8 years I lived in Houston we were invited to someone’s house 8 times but only went once (the first year we moved there). First of all, cornbread dressing is a terrible substitution for french bread stuffing in my opinion. No one made mashed potatoes and some people even FRIED their turkey. I may be married to a Texan but he has learned to eat yankee-style Thanksgiving dinners. However, I learned from Texans that sweet potato casserole is divine. Especially when pecans from the tree in the yard is added. You daughter looks like you a little bit but also has traits of the missus. What a cutie. What instrument does she play? I noticed her symphomaniac shirt.
November 27th, 2006 at 9:43 pm
Can I have the recipe for the zuccini squares and scones???? I always like zuccini (esp with grill chicken) when I fisrt tasted it in Perth but no local recipes to actually fits those in here in Malaysia.
November 27th, 2006 at 10:25 pm
My daughter is pianist Daphnewood. She could be brilliant if she would just practice. Not a daddy speaking, but a regurgitation of her piano teacher’s chastisements.
Never had french bread dressing. I love my cornbread though. Might be hard to convert me. I don’t fried turkey either. It just don’t sound healthy. And my son was begging for mashed potatoes, but for some reason my daughter did not make it.
I’ll see about posting those recipes for everyone Angeleyes.
