Anudda Kidless Fathers Day

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Okay. I did have my son for a part of the morning. He left for camp in the morning. I woke him up. Took him to Whataburger for some breakfast burritos and then we drove on to the Scout House. We are almost there when I remember that I left his spending money at home. He is supposed to have $50 in one dollar bills in an envelope. I put it on the breakfast table so I would not forget. Argh! So I dropped him and his gear off at ten minutes passed seven. Rushed back home in twenty minutes and was back at the Scout house at 7:45. When I arrived I saw the convoy leaving, and some parents still milling about chatting. The Scout House is open so I think maybe someone is waiting for the money, while the rest of the group depart for to El Rancho Cima. The Scoutmaster’s wife came over to me and said that she gave them $50 for my boy. So I thanked her and gave her the $50 I had. Really embarassing. And worst of all I did not get a chance to say goodbye to my son.

Left the Scout House and decided to cruise by Lowe’s in Sugar Land. I lucked out as they open at 8:00 on Sunday morning. Walked up to the door at 7:59. Minute passed and I grabbed a basket. Went in and bought an electric staple gun, and hammer. Also needed air filters for my a/c system. My house has two air intakes and they are a size that Lowe’s never seems to carry. I did find the one size some how. I considered buying a bigger filter and cutting it down to size.

Instead I drove to Home Depot in Rosenberg. I prefer to buy a year’s supply of air filters and I lucked out in finding two filters, but I really want four. And this being an odd size I wanted to see if they might have some in stock. Got some help and there was three cases way up high. So high that a ladder could not reach them. The lady had to get a lift to go up there and pull the filters for me. So I am happy.

My aircon filter changing is way behind at home. My filter changing schedule was kept on my old computer and this is something I had not updated on the new lappie. It is up to date now. Reminds me that I need to change the filters in my fish tanks.

I finally got home at 9:15. Just in time for my missus to wake up. I changed the air filters which pleased her. When she saw the electric stapler she was double happy. She had been trying to use a hand stapler to reupholster our breakfast nook chairs. I removed the seats and pulled out the old staples, while she glued and stapled the new fabric securely on each seat. Then I screwed the cushion back onto the chair. Will post a picture of them. They look nice. The missus did a super job.

That done I needed to do some client work. It was around 1:00 when I started on that. And honestly I kind of dozed until lunch time in my study chair. Had a salad for lunch and then back to the client work. I was working on that when the phone rang. I read a Houston area number on the caller ID and I did not answer quickly and the call dropped off. Then my cell rang from the same number again. I answered and much to my surprise it was my daughter calling from New Mexico. She called me from the top of the tallest mountain in New Mexico and the girl wanted to wish me Happy Fathers Day. Really made my day.

Once I finished the client work around 4:30 I had to get on to paying my own bills. While paying my bills I printed all of the May sales information for 12 to Midnight. Need to get the financial statements completed this week. That is going to keep me busy on the week nights.

Ed had called me earlier in the day with a reminder of all of the stuff I need to get ready for Origins. Got a long list of things to print and/or prepare. Origins is a convention hosted by the Games Manufacturers Association in Columbus, OH. I have always wanted to attend this con and now I finally shall do so. I am going to be running a few of our games there. Also going to present a seminar on how to start up a game company. Maybe I can pick up some clients this way. But I doubt it. Wait and see.

The rest of the evening I just played World of Warcraft. I am playing a 21st level Tauren Druid on the Frostmane server. Mind was pretty jello and the time playing was really a waste of time. Initially, I kept trying to complete some quests that I was way too weak for by myself. So I went to try some other quests I had put off for a while. This was very unsatisfying to play because I was too powerful for them. I need to find a better guild. The guild my son hooked me up with has a bunch of kids and they are not very dependable when you need help. Come to think of it my son has not been so helpful lately either. Kids. Haha!

Thanks everyone for the say howdies filled with Happy Fathers Day wishes I recieved. And I especially enjoyed my text greeting from Kay El. You were the first  Father’s Day greeting and you cheered a rather droll Saturday evening.

Telecome Audits

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Now here is a good service to use. Think your phone bill is too high. Maybe you are getting charged for fees that the government has discontinued. Maybe you should consider a telecom audit and see how efficient or honest your phone service provider is.

The folks at Network Mapping Associates are waiting to help you out. Get this company on board and keep your telephone costs under control.

Postcards and Shoes Shopping

Friday, June 15th, 2007

I look at this title and I wonder if the subject could be some retro rock and roll band. *smile*

Today I finally forced myself away from QuickBooks and took some pictures of the postcards I received recently. Really embarassed that I have allowed myself to be such a poor blogger. But finally I am sharing the lovely cards I received with you good folks.

PY sent me this card and isn’t it neat. Look in the lower left and you can see a rickshaw. And check out the car. Coolnes! I love history and PY knows that so she thought this would give me a glimpse of Singpore before World War II. I love that old architecture. Thanks PY.

Angel sent me this postcard from Stockholm. And a what a beautiful place. Though she mentions it is cold on her blog. I would love to go and visit there. Lot of history in Sweden too; in particular I am interested in Adolphus Augustus. I admire that feller. Thanks for thinking of me while you were freezing in Sweden, Angel.

Today I took the boy shopping for shoes after I finished my dentist appointment. (No cavities) Listen to this ladies. Eh, hmmm.  He and I went in and bought three pairs of shoes and got out of there in less than thirty minutes. Now thats how to shop for shoes. And I spent under $65 too.

My son needed hiking shoes and swimming shoes for camp next week. I keep looking at people wearing Crocs on their blogs and decided I wanted to jon the crowd. Wearing them now. So comfortable.  Yay!

Can I Lose More Weight?

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Today I stepped on the scale and it read 250 pounds. That translates into a 19 pound loss since I decided I am going to lose weight six weeks ago. Pretty happy with this progress averaging three pounds (over a kilo) each week.

I know eventually I am going to find a wall and the weight will not shred as fast any longer. When that happens I may consider some fat burning supplements. Though I have to be careful going that way. Ephedra for example would not be my drug of choice. I am not dying to lose weight, ya know.

It looks like a lot of celebrities are going for solutions at Lab 88. Hey if this works for Oprah it ought to work for me. Will continue to research this thing. Cannot be too careful when it comes to using fat burners and other dietary solutions. Lets all share what we might know about this topic.

One Hour To Go

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

I wanted to write a post so I could kill my last hour of work for the week. But I was suddenly recruited to help out one of my office mates figure out her finance homework. Where’s my Tylenol?

Present Value

Future Value

Payments

Annuities

Alamak!

She commented that I am an accountant. This stuff should be no problem for me (and it was not). But I had to explain to her that I am an accountant.  I play with numbers. Financial people have to be accurate or go to jail.

To further illustrate I told her one of the old standard accounting jokes. It goes like this:

A CPA firm is looking to hire for an open staff position. They brought in three recent college graduates for interviews. These people were the top of their respective accounting schools.

As each candidate met the interviewer, he asked them a single question. What is two plus two?

The first candidate responded three. The interviewer dismissed him immediately.

The next candidate replied with four. The interviewer smiled and waved her out of the room.

The last candidate came in. He put his feet up on the interviewer’s desk and folded his hands in his lap. Then he asked the interviewer, “How much do you want it to be?”

The interviewer hired the candidate immediately.

Have a wonderliu weekend!!! I’m going to the dentist tomorrow. Aiyah!!!

Need a California Mortgage?

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Does anybody know the california mortgage rate? TheFundingShop does. Furthermore, they promise to deliver the lowest rates while keeping costs down for their clients. Sounds good to me. Cheaper and low interest is always good.

It looks simple to get a quote too. They have a nice input field on their website. Give them the details on your situation and submit it to TheFundingShop. They promise that a loan consultant shall contact your promptly.

Samm is the Mam

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

I went to the mailbox and look what I found!!!

IMG_4150.JPG

The stamps say Malaysia!!! Wrapped pretty tightly. Better get my letter opening so I do not damage anything.

*chop* Whoa! More paper.

IMG_4153.JPG

And look who it is from!

IMG_4151.JPG

What could it be?

IMG_4154.JPG

Cuppa? Time for something good to drink.

IMG_4155.JPG

Does that look familiar to anyone?

IMG_4156.JPG

Oooh!!! Is she in the box too? Or maybe she comes over to drink with me?

IMG_4157.JPG

See? Old Town White Coffee. Time to put on the kettle.

Thanks Samm. I really appreciate getting the white coffee. I wish the Chinese groceries would carry this stuff. They have other 3-in-1 brews. Gordon must be something else too. I almost cannot open the package you wrap it so well. Sam told me her oldest son, Gordon, opened this package twice before she could hand it off to the post man. He just want some practice for future gift receiving. *wink*

Still trying to figure out how to send you an oil well Samm. Cows are much easier I think. LOL!

Changing subjects, I also received a pair of post cards that I have been wanting to post. For some reason my scanner does not like my lappie. Finally gave up and took pictures of them. When I looked at them in Picaso 2 the quality was horrible. Shall try again and post them. Sorry PY and Angel. You deserve to be recognized so long ago.

I Needed This a Couple of Years Ago

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

My kids are in Catholic school. Now my family is Protestant so sometimes I quack when I should have mooed. If I had found this site sooner I could have got my kids classmates some nice first communion gifts. But that’s okay as the Catholic Company web site looks like it has gifts for other occasions which my kids are bound to experience before they graduate. Now I can moo, but with an accent.

Wednesday Is Over

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Thank goodness today is over. Every goofy question I could be asked, I have been asked. Twice for one of them. Had to put out two fires. Why do they wait until the last minute? Very annoying as I was working on some last minute stuff at the time.

Going to buy a dog so when I get home I have something to kick. (Not really. I could never kiss a doggie. But this a dog kicking kind of day).

But now I can look at the bright side. Only one more day and I start my weekend. Woo hoo!

Italian Holiday

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

main.jpe

Some times I think it would be fun to visit my long lost bruddah! But I don’t want to impose on him and scare the bamboo tree. I think it is better I have my own bidet for when I get the urge to brush my teeth.

So when I get ready to make that trek I should consider some Villas in Italy. The folks at Luxury Retreats have some ideal properties all across the peninsula. I am certain they can hook me up with one in San Giovanni. They come in all sizes so I can comfortably bring my family. Perhaps some other L B fans may want to hop on board. These properties have plenty of room for us. Many have pools and gardens so we can enjoy our time under the Mediterranean sun. Who wants to head that way first? If you come from Malaysia, don’t forget the lormaikai.
