Christmas Is Round the Corner

Still getting adjusted to the new school year’s schedule. I recall last school year and it seems like that first day was only yesterday. That means it shall be Christmas before I know it. So I better come up with some Christmas gift ideas while it is still early.

The site on the other end of that link has an interesting way to present your special photographs. Put those photographs on canvas, just like a painting at your local art museum. Add the perfect frame and hang your loved ones on the wall. Then you can get that warm feeling every time you gaze upon their smiling faces.

Nice? I think so.

I only celebrated one ang moh christmas before in Canada in year 2000 with my Dad’s brother & his family. My Dad’s bro migrate to Canada when he studies there and married a CBC. I celebrated a traditional christmas, it was cool~

I miss it! *Bringing sweet memories*

SA: I love Canada. Especially during the summer when I am melting down here in Texas. Where is your uncle? I have my BIL#1 in Toronto area.

Hope you can have a ang moh Christmas again some day.

SA: Howdy Sandy and welcome to my blog. So do you exchange gifts at Idul Fitri?  :)

holy shit just the thought of it scares me. since i have a huge family, but i too am starting early this year to avoid the stress of it all. good luck.

SA: Oh my. I can imagine. Who has bigger families. Italians or Chinese. I offed or disowned all of my relatives to make life affordable.

in idul fitri the most common gifts are new clothes and stuffs. usually parents buy new clothes for their children.

No exchanging gifts among friends. Just visiting each other and ask an apology for a whole year mistakes. Having lunch and dinner together in neighbor house is common too.

thank you for dropping your shout in my blog. I believe you don’t understand my blog since it’s written in Bahasa :)

SA: Having lunch and dinner with friends and family is always nice. When I went to your blog I was worried. Where do I leave my comment and not change the subject. haha. So happy to see your shout box.

My uncle is in Vancouver. Haha, are you going to invite me over for a American christmas?

SA: I’ll clean up the guest room if you come this way. Though this Christmas the house will be kinda empty since we are going to be visiting Mickey Mouse in Florida.

Do you have meal in your friend’s house in Christmas ? I see it a lot in TV …

I wish I can tell a lot of our culture in my blog using English. But sometimes is can be so difficult to tell in English. And If I wrote in English then my friends won’t read my post :D dilemma …

But I’ll try to post in English since I will use English in next month in my daily life..

SA: Oh yeah. We always have a big meal. Don’t abandon you r friends. Maybe start a second blog for when you feel the urge to write an English post. Actually visit one Singapore blog that writes her posts in English and Chinese.

very early christmas shopping going on, which is smart! i did gift exchanges with my college roommates for xmas when i was in college, but like sandy eggi we celebrate aidil fitr. in malaysia we get new clothes, and do the apology thing too. also we get “green packets” (moolah, baby), i guess since on Chinese New Year we get ang pau (red packets). :)

sadly, now i have to give instead of receive packets of any kind. bah humbug.

SA: I discover new nephews and nieces every Chinese New Year. Got to have those ang pau ready at moment’s notice. The only time I ever got an ang pau is when I served tea to my in-laws at my wedding. Gosh. I better watch out or I may have to give out green envelopes too. :P

  16. sila Says:

i miss those packets (red or green, i’ll take them). the nice thing about living abroad is now i escape from having to give them at festival times ;) how to give from so far away, right?

SA: My nieces are getting older and they are getting too busy to come by for thier envelopes. I suspect my kids may be going the same way in the next few years.
