Can You Hear My Heart Beat?

Currently, I seek to lose weight. Healthy weight loss incorporates a balance of diet and exercise. When exercising I like to track my heart beat. To achieve this I use a pulse oximeter to monitor the heart rate.

I like to work my heart beat up to 120 beats a minute. When I have not reached this level I step up my routine. If I see my heart go to 130 beats I slow down a bit, as I do not want to over exert myself. Though I admit that I really do not have a clue regarding what is a healthy pulse count. What do you watch when you work out and have you ever used a pulse oximeter?

hi, there, i haven’t use a oximeter before but i am using a heart rate monitor by timex for my workout.

i think you gotta figure out your Max heartrate first before setting your heart rte you wanna achieve…here’s the formula

MHR (Maximum Heart Rate) = 220 minus your age. E.g.: you are 35 years old. 220 – 25 = 185 is your maximum heart rate.
In order to find your THR zone, you need to multiply your MHR with the low and high zone percentage. (55% low end and 90% high end)
    185(MHR) x .55 = 101.75, the low end of your THR
    185(MHR) x .90 = 166.50, the high end of your THR

good luck on your program and do share your achievement with us :)

SA: Thanks for dropping by X.  That would put me at a range of 94 to 150. Good to know.  :)
