Singapore Curry

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

A couple weeks ago I came home after chaffeuring kids hither and thither. As soon as I opened my car door the smell of curry and coconut filled the air. I walked over to the kitchen vent and hugged the wall so I could get a better snif at this wonderful smell. The kids rolled their eyes and went into the house. Then I realized that if I went inside I could get an even better smell.

I kicked off my shoes and headed for the stove. This is what I saw! Chicken, carrots, and potatoes were singing and dancing in a bath of curry and cocunut. I could only join them. Not in the pot silly. I mean dancing around the kitchen with the missus, her stirring spoon slopping curry gravy here and there. We danced to the sound of children fleeing upstairs before they were forced to join the dance as well. In short order I was expelled from the kitchen and sent upstairs where I placed my nose low to the floor to get as much of the odor inhaled as possible.

Finally, the dinner bell rang (okay the missus shouted aloud for dinner time) and I we ran to the table for our Singapore Curry. Thanks again Pei Yun. The dish tasted so wonderful, bringing tears to my eyes from the heat. Perfection!

From SA to SA

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

The other day I visted my neighborhood mailbox and pulled out all the spam, er, junk mail and bills. Stuck in the middle of this bundle was an envelope. Who sent this? Malaysian stamps. That narrows it down to less than a hundred possible mailers.

Image004.jpg

Carefully opened the envelope and inside was a perfumed note from Miss Winnn. (Okay maybe there was no perfume, but you don’t know that do you?) She sent me a magnet from South Africa. So wonderliu that Winnn can think of me while she is enjoying her African adventure.

Thanks Winnn. Big hugs for you! (Sorry I am so slow to post this too!)

Spain

Monday, October 15th, 2007

The missus had wanted to go to Hong Kong in the next couple years to visit her family. Then she saw that China is having the Olympics next year, so no way are we visiting with demand driving up travel and tour prices.

I told her why not go the other way? She looked at me funny and I said lets go to Europe. How about Spain? I know somebody there and they have some lovely cities with a lot of history.

I would love to visit the Cathedral of Barcelona. When I lived in Europe I had the habit of walking into churches and looking around at the construction and art exhibited on the grounds. I like to look in every nook and cranny. I guess to find an accommodation we’ll have to look for Hoteles en Barcelona to find a place to stay.

Madrid is definitely a must see as well. I have read about so much history in this city. Heck it is the capital right? Of course there will be interesting things to see from old Spain all the way to the modern world. I know I will walk all over town so I am going to need to find some good choices for Hotels in Madrid too. Will need a comfy room and maybe a Jacuzzi at the end of the day.

Work Break

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I want to take a short time out from WORK to rant. Of course I have no time to rant, but I have time just the same. Confused?

Well I want to thank the Brainiac that ordered a brand new copy machine/network printer and saw fit to install it right in the middle of the audit preparation. I only have a few hundred more pages that I wanted output today.

Was I told that this work stoppage would occur? Hell no! And since I planned on printing War and Peace, I was waiting for most of the office to leave at five. Then my long damn report would affect less folks. But now I cannot print at all and I was informed that I have to wait for IT to install new drivers. Oh joy!

Usually, I have Friday off. Before my unscheduled work stoppage I had considered coming in on Friday. Well they can just forget seeing me here tomorrow now. No guarantee the drivers shall be installed then either. I think I am screwed.

Oh well. I hated this job anywho. Wonder if I can make a living writing paid posts?

Find the Cure

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

My daughter is quite keen on the issue of breast cancer. Going to an all girl school probably helps focus a lot of attention on wearing pink and supporting this cause. She even had the family ready to go on a 5K run (walk real fast for me) to support awareness, until a scheduling conflict prevented us from attending.

She baked the cake below and took it to school. I have no idea how it tasted. Hope it helps creates some awareness.

Looks nice does it not?

If you want to know more you might visit Breast Cancer Awareness. Folks that want to find some pink ribbon wear can visit this shop. The American Cancer Society also is a good resource to learn more regarding this disease.

This is not a paid post. Simply the right thing to do if you love women and want them to be healthy. Let us hope a cure can be found. Or even better a means for immunization.

Breakfast! The Most Important Meal of the Day!

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I got tagged with a real easy to do tag by Zara’s and Zaria’s Mama. Easy is good for me at the moment. So I am letting this tag jump the line and get posted now. This sweet momma wants to know what I have for breakfast.

It is cute on her post where she wondered if I visit Starbucks for my brekkie. But that would be very expensive for me. They must have gold in their muffins and coffee as the price for their products is quite high. Throw in two teen age apetites and we breakfast at home.

So what do I eat then? I eat Bear Naked of course.

I really like this cereal with lowfat milk. If we have fresh strawberries or bananas I might add them to the bowl too. Starbucks coffee (that I grind and brew at home) rounds out my breakfast each day. And I can eat this every day and not get bored. In fact I prefer easy and quick for this time of day. And it is quite healthy too.

This was not advertisement. This was a tag. Too busy for paid posts right now.  :)

So what do YOU like for breakfast.

WORK

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Really busy preparing for the impending audit. It starts a week from Monday. No brain function beyond work. And then I had this email come to me and it made all clear to me. I am not certain who wrote this but it is so true. Cannot give credit as I am uncertain who author is.

HEALTH ALERT — DANGEROUS NEW VIRUS
There is a dangerous virus being passed around electronically, orally, and by hand.

This virus is called Weary-Overload-Recreation-Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from any of your colleagues, your boss, or anyone else via any means DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus will wipe out your private life completely!!

If you should come into contact with WORK, put your jacket on and take two good friends to the nearest grocery store. Purchase the antidote known as Work-Isolating-Neutralizer-Extract (WINE) or Bothersome-Employer-Elimination-Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system.

You should forward this warning to 5 friends. If you do not have 5 friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life.
Work is just killing me. How about you? I miss ya! And you! You too. Yes you…

Samsung LN-T4665F Television

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Does anyone out there own a Samsung television? What do you think about the Samsung LN-T4665F Television? This television is a 46″ HDTV LCD flat screen model that can be set up on a stand or wall-mounted. Where can I find this model? Shopping.com has a web page that lets allows the buyer to look at this television and compare prices at several stores.

The conveniently provided a link that provides a comparison for several stores. And the store listing includes big name stores as well as some smaller retailers. The site also picked up on my location so shipping and tax is displayed for the shopper’s address. Nice. The prices start as low as $1,867 and as much as $2,852. Quite a range to pick from there. Which one should I buy? There are 13 listings to choose from.

Still not sure you want to buy this television? The site provides buyer reviews to help you make the best decision. Product details are also listed. Everything you need to know before spending that wad of cash on a new television.

Penny Saved

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

My padawan has a blog she titled, Rinnah’s Market Place. She directed a tag at me from this location. She wants to know what the best bargain I ever received for RM10. I have no idea what this value might be so through the power of the force I am going to look at this from the angle of US$10.

When CompUSA closed its doors in Sugar Land I really hated to see them leave. But this did not stop me from taking advantage of the many bargains they offered. I picked up World of Warcraft at this time and I really have enjoyed playing this. Especially when I can log on with my son and the two of us go adventuring together. I even have a few ideas on how to make money playing this. No I am not going to be a gold seller. But I may start another blog covering gaming guides and such.

Name something you have bought that was worth every penny you spent, and add it to the list below. Feel free to spice it up with a photo or two. The catch is that the amount must not exceed 10 units in whatever currency you are using.
e.g. If you shop in Malaysia, list down something good you’ve bought for RM10 or less. If you shop in US, list down something you’ve purchased for $10 or less.

1. Gorgeous ethnic earrings from Beadszone (3 pairs for RM10) - Kaki Shopping
2. Time Stops For No Mouse (book) from Borders @ RM10 - Rinnah’s Marketplace

3. World of Warcraft from CompUSA store closing sale @ US$10 - Simple America

Even I Cannot Kill These

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

We do not keep many plants in the house. Reason being is that I do not have a green thumb and neither does my missus. This is why I think it would be smart for us to pick up a few silk trees. I cannot kill these. No more guilty feelings when I throw away an innocent tree or shrub that suffered under my insufficient care. Keep the dust off and these beauties shall remain, eh, beautiful.
