The Mist Looks Cool

I wish this movie would have been at theaters last weekend. Guess I can wait two weeks so I can see The Mist by Stephen King. Go check out the trailers and I think you will be as excited as I am to watch this flick.
The mist in the trailer reminds me of when I lived in Germany. There used to be some thick pea soup fogs back then. You could not see your hand in front of your face in this haze. There was a time when I kept an apartment in the nearby town. I had visited the base to watch a movie and when the movie finished we found that the fog had rolled in. We could hardly see the barracks at all. But we made it back alright.
Once we arrived at the barracks I got my bicycle and pedaled toward my house. The road sloped down hill and every time I heard a car I feared becoming a hood ornament. As soon as I heard a motor I got off my bike and pulled over to the side of the road. There I waited for the car to pass by. There were several cars that evening. By the time I arrived at my flat I was so relieved.
I am glad I had not seen The Mist way back then. The thought of going in the mist and never coming out again is frightening. And those bugs would have given me a chill when ever I heard a strange noise from the roadside.
Go check out The Mist by Stephen King and see for yourself. Come on back here and tell me when you were scared in the fog. Lets scare each other. And then we can go to the movies.

Your experience in Germany does sounds scary - I haven’t read this Stephen King’s yet but just the concept of a thick mist, as you say, is scary.
SA: I want to read this tale too. I don’t remember this being a novel, so I am assume it is one of his short stories.

SA: I lived in West Germany for six years. Now it is just Germany since I left there in 1984. Where are you going to in Germany?

googleddid a little research and the wikipedia says this is a novella. It have been in print as a part of a 1980 anthogy titled Dark Forces, edited by Kirby McCauley. This tale was reprinted in 1985’s Skeleton Crew, a short story collection of King’s. I think I have Skeleton Crew. Will read this again.November 7th, 2007 at 12:31 am

SA: Sounds like an assignment to me.

My sister didn’t like the movie.
SA: Where did she see it? Has not been released to theaters in US. Though that does not mean there have not been some sneal previews that I missed.
Hey! Welcome to my blog.
