Movies Need Popcorn

Monday, November 26th, 2007

We watch a lot of movies at home. The missus says when the kids move out we may build a media room. Huge screen, big comfy seats, ottomans to prop up our feet.

You know what would make the room complete? A popcorn machine popping kernel after kernel. I love the smell of fresh popcorn. Then we could enjoy our favorite DVDs with the cinema experience of a big screen and popcorn at hand. So when in the world are those kids leaving?

Thanksgiving Recap

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Promise you all that Thanksgiving food pictures shall be posted soon. Have not had the time yet. Hope I can get the time to visit you all soon too.

Thanksgiving was a relaxing day. The missus and girl combined efforts in the kitchen with some help from sil #4. They did not go all out cooking so many dishes as in the past. Put what they prepared was excellent and yummy. We had turkey of course and you shall see the other dishes in that future post I mentioned. I promise this post is gonna happen.

The sales ads did not show a lot of super duper bargains as in the past. Since there was no stop the world deals, i woke up on Friday morning at the crack of eight. I moved out quickly and visited Best Buy in Rosenberg, followed by Circuit City and Best Buy in Sugar Land. Mission accomplished, no Grinch this year. Cannot discuss my purchases as the wee bairns are smart enough to read my blog and discover what their Christmas presents are. The best part of shopping was returning home before 10:30.

The holiday was nice family time. I got to visit with two of my nieces, the missus’ brother #3 and sister #4. Though I have to admit that I missed seeing sil #5 who is in Hong Kong helping my parent-in-laws with a project. She always livens up a party. All of the kids played a lot of Guitar Hero 3 and I even squeezed in a few songs of rocking.

Monday came too quick. Six days is not enough. Can I take another six? Oh well there is a nice break coming at Christmas. Then the family and I shall head east to Florida.

Luggage for Orlando

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

With our trip to Orlando just a month away there are a lot of things we need to get beforehand. We need a few new pieces of luggage as some of our older pieces are worn out. So luggage is on the top of our shopping list.

I do not like going to the store for this kind of item. When I saw Luggage Universe I realized I could shop on line. That is how I like to shop most. And best of all they have brand names that I trust.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

I just wanted to stop by and say Happy Thanksgiving to all of my faithful blog readers and peekers. I hope all of my American friends have a huge feast surrounded by family and friends. Watch some football and DVDs. Maybe go see a movie. Plan your shopping. Chit chat about the past or whatever makes you happy.

On this day I have so much to be thankful for. A loving wife that puts up with my foibles. A pair of kids that have not burned down the house or gouged out their eyes. They’re good but have their moments like any angst ridden teenagers. I’m thankful for all of my friends far and near. May god bless and sustain you through all of the challenges life presents you with. I’m am thankful to live in a country that still has a few basic freedoms left. May we find good men and women that can return us to our brilliant Constitution. I am thankful for the American military and law enforcement all levels to be safe and execute the orders to the best of their ability. Their efforts allow me to enjoy this moment of thanks and share it with you.

Cell Phones

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

My son wants a cell phone. Of course, he has desired one ever since his sister received her phone. At her High School the phone is necessary, or we might never find her. But now that she is driving, her brother has a greater need to contact her. So it might be time to get the boy a phone of his own.

Buy.com has some unlocked phone offers available now. A lot of Nokias are listed there and that might fit the bill for my lad.

Brave 300

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Whoa! 300 a great flick!

I know! I know! 300 has been out for a while, but I just never watched it before today. Super story. I have always admired the Spartans. I have some little metal Greeks that I intend to paint as Spartans someday and that might happen pretty quick after catching this flick.

But I am really not surprised by how well the story is written. Frank Miller is simply brilliant. I loved every one of his comic series that I had the chance to read. The best Daredevil comics were penned by him. My favorite story of his is Ronin, which I have stashed away in a corner hidden from harmful sun rays, children, and other ickies. I hear that they are going to adapt Ronin for the silver screen. Most of you folks know Frank Miller for his Sin City story line. Based on Sin City and 300 I think we should all be excited by the chance to catch Ronin.

I’m going to watch 300 again before we return it to the red box. Two thumbs up and all my toes.

Help For Corporations

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

One thing I worry about once I get my business established is keeping clients. It is a struggle to find clients and then you must satisfy those folks. A corporate performance management tool can be a great help in this endeavor.

Prophix offers software and consultants that can help a business improve corporate performance management. A company that wants to step up and provide better service to their client base should contact Prophix to see how they might help.

Let the Holidays Begin

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I survived another Monday at work and took Tuesday off as a vacation day. With the Thanksgiving holiday I do not have to return until next Monday. Hip hip hooray!!! I wanted to take Monday off, but that was impossible with all the timely stuff do from work.

But now I am looking at stretching exercise so I can be ready to eat on Thursday. We are going to take it easy this year. The missus has declared a baking ban and who can blame her. Buying a pie is just as costly as buying the ingredients. Lets hear it for economy of scales. This should allow me to focus on more important things like family, watching DVDs and playing Warcraft. Also let me catch up on the 12 to Midnight books. Hope to get that all done before Thursday.

My wife’s family visits for dinner on Thursday. Really looking forward to that. Good food. Good company. Nieces to squeeze until they go whee or pop. Sales ads to peruse so we can be ready for Black Friday.

Black Friday really can be hectic. All of the crowds at the mall and trendy shops. Hopefully, I won’t have to get up at 4:00 to make the line for some super bargain. Do not see how I can avoid it though. Early rising is part of the fun of the season though. Wish me luck fighting for whatever sale I dash off to.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of those of you who celebrate. And I’m still thinking good thoughts toward those of you who don’t share this holiday. Big turkey gobbling, pie chomping hugs to all of my faithful readers.

Winter’s Coming

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Winter is coming. I can tell by all the rain we had last weekend and the fog this morning that slowed my drive a great deal. That means those Canadian air masses are bound to be on their way. Canadian air is so cold. Brrrr!!!

Maybe I should find one of those North Face jackets to fend off the chill. I like the look and the color selection too.

Adjusting Quickly

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Well the girl has been driving back and forth without a hitch. No detours. No ditching her brother off in the middle of no where. Really is nice to have another driver in the house.

She had a Girl Scout meeting on Sunday. Her mother asked me if I would drive her. Old reflexes die hard. The missus thought about it again and then she remembered the girl could drive herself. And she did.

Dad is proud of her.

And happy to have some more time to try and figure out little things here and there. Why did it take 11 disks to back up my lap top? Had a blue screen of death shortly afterwards, so I am glad I have a back up. The laptop revived. Technology is a pain some days.
