Yes I Am Alive

Friday, January 25th, 2008

So sorry to have gone on hiatus without letting everyone know. It was not planned, this thing called life just kind of made it happen.

The vacation was nice. We stopped over in New Orleans and I got ill once again. This time it was a head flu that turned into a nasty cough and all the time burning like a candle. My head was too numb to blog for the week I was ill. My daughter was official vacation photographer and I am waiting to get a disc from her so I can share more of Disney with you all.

Once the vacation finished I looked at my finances closely and realized I needed to bring in some cash. Fortunately, some ebay auctions ended and that brought in a nice sum just in the nick of time. I am going to post some more auctions this weekend to see about capturing a few more dollarinoes.

My business needs to get the marketing going. But my marketing hinges around being able to consult for a popular accounting software package. So I focused on certification for this product and that took me ten days to get done. But I am now certified and I putting that information on my biz cards and web site. The web site is still a work in process as I refine my message. Better refine it damn quick or I am gonna miss the tax season and that is where a large amount of my income has to come from this year. At least that is the way things shall go until I develop the bookkeeping side of my firm. Today I created a pair of press releases, but I want to confirm my message before I deliver them. Again I must get this message refined and quick or the missus is going to mail out my resume’.

The kids are keeping me busy too. Girl scouts is taking up a fair amount of the girl’s time. She goes for a leadership event this weekend. SAT prep is under way next month and then she sits for the test. Busy girl. We are in the middle of High School admissions for the lad. We visited one campus last night and by this time next week we shall attend four more open houses. Another reason to get some ebay auctions opened. Registration and testing fees are due and most do not take credit cards. The boy is also on the prep bowl team, where he is a substitute. They had meets last Saturday and another this coming Saturday.

I hope to get some time to peek at your blogs. So many of you sent me lovely Christmas cards. And there was so much love sent via Facebook too. Big hugs and thanks to all of you. Dawn really surprised me with a huge box of Malaysia. I’m serious. Snacks, spices, coffee, and a cute refrigerator magnet from Malaysia. Honestly, she gave me everything but tropical weather. Thank you so much Dawn.

Hope to blog more soon. There shall be less blog ads in the future. I looked at the cost of posting ads versus my fees and I lose money with blog ads from that point of view. There are some I have to do because of products recieved. But any other blog ads I do shall be because I like the product a lot or want to see the movie. I intend to write a lot more articles off blog, though I may link them here or on my firm’s site. Hoping to make some money that way, and there is a potential for better payouts. Plus writing for hobby or professionally is going to keep me sharp on those kinds of topics. After tax season is done I plan on making a third blog for the Writer’s Journey. This blog is going to be limited in readership. I have to know you before I let you in there, as I shall be working on saleable works. Hope they sale. We shall see, what we shall see, ya?

Look for Hug Hug updates too. I have added a table addon so hopefully I can produce the numbers easier. Really hated that I could not paste Excel onto the page. We’ll see if this table thingie is the fix or not.

Missed you all. Sorry for leaving without a word. Will try to be the annoying old me again.  Happy, uh, New Year.

Midnight Charity Project

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

I think many of my loyal readers are aware that I am part of 12 to Midnight, a roleplaying game publisher. We have launched a drive for charity this Christmas and New Years, which we call the Midnight Charity Project. For our initial project we have decided to support the Autism Research Institute. All funds generated by the Midnight Charity Project this month shall be forwarded to the initiative, Defeat Autism Now or DAN.

How does the project intend to raise these funds for charity? Twenty percent of all sales of 12 to Midnight products from the Midnight Cellar during the month of December shall go to the Midnight Charity Project. But wait, if you purchase Last Rites, Blood Lines, or Skinwalker from our shop every penny of the sale is going to the charity.

The Midnight Charity Project is conducting some auctions on eBay as well. The first item up for auction is an official City of Pinebox Death Certificate. I believe there are going to be two and possibly three of these items up for auction. The second item on auction is an autographed copy of Blood Lines. Really is a nice gift for the horror gamer in your house. The next item on the auction block is immortality. Okay maybe not eternal life, but if you win this bid you can be a nonplayer character in our ETU: Degrees of Horror book that we are currently developing. Having your name in a published work can be like living forever. Right? When these other items become available for bidding, I shall announce that here.

I hope you can help the Midnight Charity Project. Even if you do not want to purchase our products or bid on the auctions, I would like you to contribute to Autism Research Institute. You can contribute directly too them. We just want to do our part to contribute to the effort to find a cure.

Yummies From Penang

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

This post is over due. But I want to thank Angeleyes for thinking of me. Well I did thank her online already, but I like to thank bloggers for their gifts here too.

I read Nyonya on this package. I keep seeing that term. Can I request a translation please?

Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

I just wanted to stop by and say Happy Thanksgiving to all of my faithful blog readers and peekers. I hope all of my American friends have a huge feast surrounded by family and friends. Watch some football and DVDs. Maybe go see a movie. Plan your shopping. Chit chat about the past or whatever makes you happy.

On this day I have so much to be thankful for. A loving wife that puts up with my foibles. A pair of kids that have not burned down the house or gouged out their eyes. They’re good but have their moments like any angst ridden teenagers. I’m thankful for all of my friends far and near. May god bless and sustain you through all of the challenges life presents you with. I’m am thankful to live in a country that still has a few basic freedoms left. May we find good men and women that can return us to our brilliant Constitution. I am thankful for the American military and law enforcement all levels to be safe and execute the orders to the best of their ability. Their efforts allow me to enjoy this moment of thanks and share it with you.

Need Addresses

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Man I need to get addresses from you folks. I had built up a nice mailing list last year only to see it die on that old laptop. I probably cannot send Christmas gifts like last year or even a card. Reason being I am going to Disney World in Orlando. But I would like to mail post cards from my holiday. So if you want a card drop me a line. I would love to let you see my sloppy hand writing.

Singapore Curry

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

A couple weeks ago I came home after chaffeuring kids hither and thither. As soon as I opened my car door the smell of curry and coconut filled the air. I walked over to the kitchen vent and hugged the wall so I could get a better snif at this wonderful smell. The kids rolled their eyes and went into the house. Then I realized that if I went inside I could get an even better smell.

Image016.jpg

I kicked off my shoes and headed for the stove. This is what I saw! Chicken, carrots, and potatoes were singing and dancing in a bath of curry and cocunut. I could only join them. Not in the pot silly. I mean dancing around the kitchen with the missus, her stirring spoon slopping curry gravy here and there. We danced to the sound of children fleeing upstairs before they were forced to join the dance as well. In short order I was expelled from the kitchen and sent upstairs where I placed my nose low to the floor to get as much of the odor inhaled as possible.

Image017.jpg

Finally, the dinner bell rang (okay the missus shouted aloud for dinner time) and I we ran to the table for our Singapore Curry. Thanks again Pei Yun. The dish tasted so wonderful, bringing tears to my eyes from the heat. Perfection!

From SA to SA

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

The other day I visted my neighborhood mailbox and pulled out all the spam, er, junk mail and bills. Stuck in the middle of this bundle was an envelope. Who sent this? Malaysian stamps. That narrows it down to less than a hundred possible mailers.

Image004.jpg

Carefully opened the envelope and inside was a perfumed note from Miss Winnn. (Okay maybe there was no perfume, but you don’t know that do you?) She sent me a magnet from South Africa. So wonderliu that Winnn can think of me while she is enjoying her African adventure.

Thanks Winnn. Big hugs for you! (Sorry I am so slow to post this too!)

Thank You PY

Friday, September 28th, 2007

I came home and I had a most unexpected package sitting in my mail box.

 LOOK!!!!

Image0061.jpg

All the way from sunny Singapore. This comes to my from Oceanskies and I am so happy to have received this. What is inside?

Image009.jpg

Yummy stuff and a lovely post card. One day I will walk across that bridge. But for now I will eat some Singapore curry. My missus is so eager to get some chicken.

Thank you PY.  :)

Fallen Dreams

projectx_banner.gif

I had a nice surprise when I visited Velverse’s blog today. Last month she asked me if I wanted to colloborate with her on Project Crossroad. This is a creative effort that she coordinates on her blog. She asked if I would like to write something for her and the topic would be dreams. How could I resist? Velverse is very talented and now that I have seen the finished works I am totally in awe of her graphics ability. Go look and see if you agree.
